Student Services Representative

Carpenter Millwright College (CMC) invites qualified applicants for the position of STUDENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE. The CMC is a private college, owned and operated by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Locals 579 and 1009. We specialize in apprenticeship training in Carpentry and Industrial Mechanics (Millwright). We also provide specialized training in Scaffolding and Safety.


Duties

  • Liaise with Student Financial Services Division (Federal / Provincial) on all aspects related to Student Loans and default prevention plans.
  • Provide guidance to all applicants and students regarding funding, tuition payments, scholarships, and repayment.
  • Provide information regarding admissions requirements, financial options, and program details.
  • Review and update operational policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate information to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Monitor and review attendance and academic progress of all enrolled students on a regular basis and implement solutions to address truancy.
  • Implement academic discipline policy where required.
  • Liaise with industry and other regular partners to ensure CMC’s compliance with applicable standards, especially as it applies to apprenticeship.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring on course requirements, student accommodations, financial obligations, progress towards graduation, and career pathways.
  • Produce academic and statistical reports pertaining to students and graduates.
  • Resolve conflicts, handle complaints, and settle disputes regarding issues relating to student attendance and performance.
  • Develop presentations for school visits and college tours.
  • Conduct work tern placements as required
  • Conduct school visits, career fairs, and tours
  • Create/design marketing materials, promo items, ads, videos, etc.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to be punctual and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to excellence
  • Supplementary training in coaching, advising, and/or monitoring
  • Excellent computer skills particularly in a Microsoft environment
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset, particularly knowledge of student aid, career pathways, and the apprenticeship system.
